American Idol 10: Scotty Won!

I admit! I haven't watched American Idol since Casey Abrams got eliminated. But, I still kept reading blogs and news about it. When the Top 3 was presented, my emotions shifted from rooting for Scotty to Hailey. Then, when the Top 2 was announced, my immediate reaction was Lauren was going to win.

I don't know why my Scotty addiction stopped. Maybe because I got bored already of watching him already? I. DON'T. KNOW. REALLY.

I haven't watched the finals yet but I will sure do later! I'm excited to see Lady Gaga perform and Beyonce. Oh well, going back to Scotty.

Now that I knew ahead of time that Scotty won, everything is sinking in and I am really having a hard time figuring out whether he will succeed as a recording artist or not. I know that Country is a big thing in the States and I really hope that Scotty will be know all over. He deserves it! He worked hard to win and he did!

American Idol 10: The Top 12 Performance Review and Results

OK, I didn't even have the power to finish the episode of American Idol last night. Everything was just too boring for me. I hated half of the contestants' performance. I even hated Paul's song choice. I really wish that he sings the songs that are suitable to his voice and songs that are generally known by everyone and not only by him. If he doesn't step up a notch, he will be in trouble of going home soon.

I was just happy that 2 of song that I chose for the contestants came up, Naima's "What's Love Got to Do" which turned out to be an average performance and forgettable and James' "I'll Be There for You" which I think was just an OK performance.

What else can I say? Top 12 performances should be good already! How come the contestants are still average? They should be performing for their lives and they should be stepping up every week. Shesh!

Performances that I liked include: Pia, Stefano, Scott and James. I was kinda happy that Karen got eliminated because I don't like ever since from the start. Karen, we know you are Latina but please stop rubbing it in our faces.

I really hope that next week, their performances will be greater that this week. I'm starting to feel bored about watching it already.

American Idol 10: The Top 12 Song Choice (I Wish!)

I just found out that the performance of the Top 12 Idol contestants of Season 10 will have a central theme. And the theme is "the songs on the year they were born".

This theme made me excited! But when I saw the year when the contestants were born, I was so shocked! Majority of them were born on the 90's.

So, I searched and searched for the songs that are suitable for each contestant. I really wish that some of them will actually sing the songs that I choose for them. Haha!

1984
Paul - Time After Time (Cyndi Lauper)
Well, I love Paul! He is currently my new crush I'd really like him to stay for a long time in Idol. So, I choose for him "Time After Time". I'm kinda imagining that he will give new spice to this song. With his wonderful voice and crazy movements. I also wish that he will just sit down and play his guitar for his song.

Naima - What's Love Got to Do (Tina Turner)
After Naima's wonderful performance last week, I wanted her to sing something slow this week. But not too slow! What's Love Got to Do can really bring out her versatility in singing. If she pulls that performance off, I will definitely root for her to win.

Jacob - "Don’t Dream It's Over" (Crowded House)
Ok, I know! Basing from Jacob's tone of voice, this song is just normal for him. But I guess, he needs to tone down also. I hope he sings this song, quietly and not over doing it.

Pia - Foolish Heart (Debbie Gibson)
Again, Pia has a wonderful voice and I believe that whatever she sings, it will turn out OK. Given this fact, she needs to show her flexibility in singing. If she sings Foolish Heart in a Bossanova style (think Sitt), I'm sure people will love it.

James - I'll Be There for You (Bon Jovi)
Our OA contestant will again have the chance to be OA if he sings this song. But this song will definitely make him stand out if he pulls it off. The tone and mood of the song suits James perfectly. I just can't wait to see him strut his style with the melody.

Karen - Like a Prayer (Madonna)
OK Karen, we get it. You love Latin songs but we are sick of it already. If you choose Like a Prayer and you survive to sing it, I will choose you instead of Haley. Because right now, I wish that you will be out next but if you pull this off, I think you can stay.

Stefano - Another Day in Paradise (Phil Collins)
Our cute boy will sing a Phil Collins song that suits his voice. I just wish that if he chooses this song, he won't tear it up make into a dance song. I like this song the way it is and I'm sure he can recreate it nicely.

Casey - (Everything I Do) I Do It for You (Brayan Adams)
My guy bet to win will surely win if he sings this song. Casey's voice can sing any song and he surely pull it off because he has heart when he sings. You can see his emotions when he sings and this song will really cut through everyone heart when he sings it perfectly. I kinda like it if Paul does a duet with him.

Haley - You're In Love (Wilson Philips)
Haley has this annoying girly voice that I hate. So, this song suits her perfectly. A girly song for a girly voice. I know this will not be her song choice. but whatever it is, I hope she or Karen leaves the contest.

Scott - Have I Told You Lately by Rod Stewart
Well, Scott is a very cute kid. He sings country songs beautifully. But we need to hear him sing usual songs. I think this song will bring out the best in his voice.

Lauren - Stay (I Missed You) by Lisa Loeb & Nine Stories
I love this song! I think this song needs to be remembered once again and I think Lauren can give justice to my past fave song. With the intensity of Lauren's voice, this song will have  a new twist.

Thia - One Sweet Day by Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men
As I Lay Me Down by Sophie B. Hawkins
I choose 2 songs for Thia because I know that her sweet voice can really perform well in these songs. I really wish she steps up a bit so she can shine well. Her last performance was great but she needs to move around. I though she was the one going home because of her drama. I just hope that she lightens up a bit.

So there, the songs I wish the Idol contestants will sing. I can't wait for their performance already! I hope they all give us a great show.

American Idol 10: The Girls Who I Liked

Well, even if I was so sleepy already, I still wanted to watch the Top 12 Girls perform and do their thing in Idol. So, wrapped in my fluffy blanket, I watched on as the girls strut themselves and perform.

Disclaimer: This blog was written way different from the American Idol 10: The Boys who I Liked because I am not familiar with majority of the songs sang by the girls.

The girls performance started of with an average performance of the Only Girl in the World. If you ask me, that performance was so tiring! I can feel the contestant really grasping for air just to follow the song. Well, anyway, I first started to feel the competition when Naima Adedapo performed. I love her voice! And I love her moves! She knows how to lure people on with her performance. I also like her fashion! I really hope she makes it through.

Next performance that liked was Thia Megia's rendition of the song On My Own. The acapella  intro was great and it added to the mood and style of her performance. I loved her outfit! Her piece was nice but not amazing. I feel that she is playing safe on her song choices. If she gets through, she should show a wilder and lighter side of herself to everyone.

the rest of the girl's performances just passed by. I forgot most of them already which was bad because I really thought that the girls will rule this season's Idol.

well, good thing Pia Toscano came in and brought everything to the next level. Her performance was inspiring. i can feel her emotions and she brought it in! The standing "O" was well deserved and I really feel that we will see more of Pia in the coming episodes.

That's it! I kinda know who the Top 13 contestants already because I saw spoilers of the show but I will blog about it when I watch the elimination episode tonight.

American Idol 10: The Boys Who I Liked

Finally, it's American Idol time!

I am so excited already. I can't wait to see the Top 24 perform. I have some of my favorites already but I want to start with a new slate in picking my favorite.

AI10 started with a blast. The stage looked awesome the judges looked great and everyone was excited for the show to start.

I was initially planning on blogging about each performer but it was just to tedious for me. So, I will just share the performances that I liked.

Here it goes...

Clint Jun Gamboa - Superstition
It was a happy performance. The lights complimented the song and Jun was able to bring it on. His performance was really a good start.Towards the end, I felt he was over reacting already with all the shouting and all the movement. But still, I liked his performance.

Paul McDonald - Maggie May
I was not sure what Paul's name was at first. All I could remember was his very unique voice. During his performance, i was just staring at him and looking at him and his style of clothing and I suddenly said, "I like him!". I love his performance. I love his dance moves and I love his tight and fit attire. It looked very good on him. I was already imaging Doms with that same style of outfit in my cousins wedding in November. -> SEGWAY!

James Durbin - You got Another Thing Comin'
James Durbin was super! His energy was way over the top. Everybody can feel him and the judges definitely liked him.I can feel him being part of the Top 12 contestants of AI 10 and he will definitely go a long way.

Jacob Lusk - A House is Not a Home
What more can I say? This guy is a performer. He sings very well and he shows his emotion through singing. I just don't feel his "dance of joy" but he really deserves to be part of idol.Talented people like that should be seen all over the world.

Scott McCreery - Letters From Home
Ok, Scott for me is so ADORABLE.He sings country music so well it seems he has been singing since birth. What I like about him is the way he projects himself in television. He knows how to act cute and he is cute and the people around him believes he is cute!

All in all, the boys performed OK. I hated the other performers specially that Jordan Dorsey dude! He kept on saying "that's not me that's not me". What's up with that? Why did you choose that song in the first place?!?!

Towards the end of the episode. I felt that the judges didn't really give out appropriate criticisms to the boys. They should have just added "more" to what they have to say. Their comments were not that helpful if you ask me.

So, it's the girls turn now! I'm they will be better.

Reasons Why I'm Loving AI10

I've been very vocal about me loving the latest season of American Idol. I never thought that I'll be writing a blog about. Well, ever since Idol started, I loved watching the episodes already. But, I don't like the audition parts. So, I always wait for the time when the Top 24 contestants has been announced and that's the time that I will start watching it.

Anyway, in the past years, I've been "lazy" in watching Idol episodes. I don't know why but maybe because I was so tired of listening to the judges' unreasonable comments. There was even a time that I was tired of looking at them! It was really a good move for the creators of Idol to change the judges.

I was at first reluctant when I found out that Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez will join Randy Jackson and Ryan Seacrest in this season of Idol. My first reaction was, "Jennifer Lopez? She will just whine and be too gentle on the contestants." While for Steven Tyler I just said, "F*ck! Who *bleep* thought of getting  that *bleep* kind *bleep* *bleep* of a person?". But all of those initial reaction swished out of the window when I first watched an episode of Idol 10 .

The 3 judges' aura in the television was amazing! They click together. JLo's comments were not that sweet but very objective. A lot of contestants love her and they were starstruck when they see her. Steven Tyler's reaction when a contestant was out of tune in singing has always been hilarious! He's like, what?!? (with eye brows raised to the roof!). His comments were straight to the point and he knows what he is saying. Randy on the other hand, was still kinda stuck by how the past judges does their criticisms. He was like "Listen, dawg it's not for you..." This annoys me. Why not just tell the contestant the parts that he/she needs to improve on? Anyway, good thing I don't pay too much attention to him. I particularly liked the part when the judges met Cris Medina's wife in a wheel chair. Steven was like "You know why your husband sings well, because he sings it for you". I was teary eyed when I watched this.

Ryan has always and will always be the life of the party. I never realized that he can be as kind-hearted and sweet person. His interaction with the contestants and their family was just too natural. It really shows that he likes working with people.

Honestly, the past judges (Simon, Paula and Randy) just clicked to me after season 3 or 4. In the first seasons, I always feel that they were mismatched. But the judges now (JLo, Steven and Randy), clicked and jumped right from the TV the first time I saw them together.

1/3 of the reason why I like watching Idol10 was because of the contestants. The group was a combination of great talent! I can't wait for their performances already!
