Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

Let me just say that it was a very good decision to watch the last installment of the Harry Potter movie in the big *ss screen of IMAX in Sydney.

Let's rewind one month ago...

I bought tickets to watch Harry Potter last June 14. This day was more than a month before the actual screening of the movie and yet our seats were on the side already.

The actual screening date came and I was so excited to watch it in IMAX Sydney. People waiting in line were wearing costumes and this made me excited more!

Look how huge the cinema was?!?! Harry Potter and the rest of the cast were so close to my face I can even smell them!!! Joke!!!

Going back to the movie, IT WAS AWESOME!

I loved every part of it! The acting of the characters were exceptionally good and the effects were great! I cannot deny that every member of the cast and crew of this movie gave it there all to make this movie great and memorable.

I will surely miss watching the HP movies. Good thing I have all of the movies downloaded already!

Kung Fu Panda 2 Awesomeness in 3D

The past week was so tiring! My friend from North Fairview, Eden, had a short vacation here in Singapore this weekend so most of the time we were with her. I didn't really thought that we can actually watch a movie. So, Sunday morning when I learned that we cannot attend the early mass with Eden, we immediately planned to watch Kung Fu Panda 2. I loved the first movie so naturally, we will really watch the second movie.

The movie was so hilarious! I loved the comedy part! This movie had punchlines all throughout the movie and everyone in the cinema was laughing out loud. I love the movie script! The effects and the animation were great. My favorite part was when the Furious Five poses with Po and Po always ends up facing the other side of the pose. Hilarious! The sound of Po's bouncing belly kinda annoyed me but all in all it was OK.

The story line was OK! The actors were really great and I liked it that we watched it in 3D because the movie had a whole new perspective in 3D.

I teared up in some parts of the movie because it really touched me. Especially the part when Po was learning about his past. He such a cute panda and everyone in the cinema was saying "Awww..." Haha! I really love watching animated films with kids in the cinema.

I rate this movie 4 stars! I love everything about it and it sure worth the wait and your money. I also recommend that you watch this movie with your family in 3D. The effects are nice and surely, awesome!

Ahoy! Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides Review

Since I am in no mood for anything grand and happy today, I will just pour my emotions to writing in my blog. Starting of with the movie review of the 4th installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean movie series "On Stranger Tides".

I initially wanted to watch this movie in Shaw House in Orchard were the Lido IMAX theatres are being launched. But, tickets were scarce in Shaw Orchard and my mind just blew when I learned that each movie ticket costs 22sgd per head. So, I searched for other movie houses and I got tickets from Shaw NEX in Serangoon.

I love our seats! We were seated along the aisle, third from the back. I say, those were wonderful seats!

I am not a full-pledged fan of Capt. Jack Sparrow but I really like watching him in movies. I love his moves, his groves and his way with girls. I was reluctant with the start of the  movie because the transition between the Spanish finding a "guy" from their fishing net from the court room scene wasn't very nice. They could have added more scenes of how Jack became the judge.

As always the clumsiness and the wit of Jack made the movie fun and entertaining but there was something lacking. I don't quite get what it was but it seems the movie was picked up from the middle of the last movie.

Anyway, introducing new characters like Angelica (Penelope Cruz) and Blackbeard (Ian McShane) contributed to the plot of the story. Angelica was fun but they should have gotten Eva Mendes or Michele Rodriguez for the role instead of girly-girl Penelope. She's just too clean to be a pirate!

 I specifically like the story of the mermaid and the minister. Serena, the mermaid looked awesome! She has everything it takes to play like a mermaid. And the minister was way too hot to become a minister! But I liked that they added another romance story that touched the heart. I wonder what happened to the minister after he taken underwater? Did he become like a mermaid too?

 All in all, I liked the movie. But the absence of Will Turner and the rest of the original crew was missed. It could have been more exciting if they appeared even at the end credits of the movie or whatever. The setting, the sounds and the effects were great! What else can you expect from Disney right?

I rate this movie with 3 stars! It's worth your money if you're really a fan but you can just wait for it and download it in torrent.

The Awesomeness of Fast Five

Doms bought our tickets for the 5th installment of the Fast and the Furious movies. I was reluctant at first to watch it but I was happy we did.

I loved the story and the action sequence was just right for me. There were some parts that I thought was really impossible to happen but I knew that they have to add those parts just to make it more exciting for viewers. I just don't like the fact that Brazil allowed their country to look like it's up to no good.

The teaser at the end of the credits also made me excited! How can that be? Michelle Rodriguez was still alive?!?! I can't wait for the next movie, if there is. But if in the long run they decide that this movie will be the last movie, it's just OK for me. Fast Five embodied what a racing/heist/suspense should be. For this, I am giving this movie 4 stars.

Thor in 3D

Another Stan Lee creation brought to life in movies. Thor became one of my favorite movies for 2011 instantly because of the characters, the story and Thor's abs and biceps!

Let me just say I love Marvel characters. And I can't wait for the movie Avengers, which will show next year, where all of them will come together in one movie. Thor reminded me of how good Stan Lee was. I can't believe how he wrote and created Thor! I mean, how come he doesn't run out of ideas? Thor's story in the movie and in the comics is so convincing that I instantly believed that there is such as thing as Bifrost.


I loved every part of the movie! We watched it in 3D that's why the movie has an  extra effect on me. And for this, I am rating this movie, 4 stars.

Saturday Movie Date: Source Code

Since it was a long weekend, Doms and I decided to have a movie marathon of the movies that we missed out. The first movie that we watched was Source Code.

Source Code is an action-thriller movie that stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan and Vera Farmiga.

I loved the story line of the movie. If only this scientific breakthrough will "really" happen. It will definitely help a lot of countries to figure out who is the mastermind of bombings and killings.

What I Loved: I loved the two main casts of the movie, Jake and Michelle. They were very good actors and they are really convincing. The story line was nice even if it shifted for like 4 or 6 times throughout the whole movie. The effects were good too and the suspense level was just right for this type of movie.

What I Hated: I hated the actor playing Dr. Rutledge (Jeffrey Wright). He was like acting and wasn't into the zone of the movie. He lacks depth and personality. I am not sure if the character was really like that but I didn't like it. He wasn't convincing enough. It will be more convincing if Vera Farmiga was the facility head ans Jeffrey Wright was the Air force Captain. I also didn't like the part where the villain of the movie was shown. He was too clean to be a distraught and crazy citizen.

All in all, I loved the movie. It was entertaining enough. It was just what we needed in a lazy Saturday afternoon show.

"A tablet a day and I was Limitless"

Last Sunday, Doms and I watched the suspense drama movie of Bradley Copper, Limitless. We were hesitant at first. We were choosing between Sucker Punch and Limitless while in queue to buy tickets in Golden Village, VivoCity. But since we watched the trailer of Limitless the previous night and found it interesting, we just opted to watch it.

Good thing we chose Limitless. I liked the story and I like the movie. It kept me guessing the whole time of what will happen next. I also like the idea or the concept of NZT 48 and it being a "way" to open up a persons mind 100%. Wish I could have that pill.

Anyway, my favorite part was the ending. When Bradley Copper was all dressed up and cleaned up nicely because he was a senatorial candidate. I loved his suit! But the part when he "predicted"  that the van will crash and the part when he felt Robert De Niro's chest and found out that he needs to take care of his heart creeped me out! WTF, is he a psychic now?

Overall, I loved the movie and I'm giving it 3 stars for now.

Watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Again

I was really so happy that I was able to download the first part of one of my favorite movie series of all time, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1.

We were so excited to watch it again, even if we watched in the cinema. The movie still never ceases to amaze me. I still shout at certain scenes, I still feel the suspense and thrill of most of the parts and I still laugh at the places that were funny.

I loved the part when Harry, Ron and Hermoine were at Luna’s place. They were talking about the story of the 3 brothers of the Deathly Hallows. Hermoine started reading the story and when she said “twilight”, Ron interrupted and said “Midnight! Mum always says midnight”. The scene was hilarious! I mostly loved Ron’s funny lines and antiques in the entire move. His lines relieved everyone’s anxiety throughout the duration of the movie.

Now I’m so excited about the second and last installment of the movie! I want to watch it already! But it will still open in theaters this July and that seems so far away!
I also have the complete Harry Potter Books in my iPad so I can read the books whenever I want it. I hope July comes fast so we can watch Part 2 already.

Gnomeo and Juliet

Doms and I decided to watch a movie yesterday.  We were arguing what movie to watch. I wanted something light and something that I will smile. Doms wanted adventure and actions. So, we were torn between Gnomeo and Juliet and Adjustment Bureau. 

Well, just what this blog implies, naturally I won. We watched Gnomeo and Juliet.

The movie started with a very cute gnome narrating about the novel Romeo and Juliet. I gave a loud snort when he said, "The story you about to see has been told before. A lot."

Well this was a reality. romeo and Juliet has been told a hundred times! In movies or in theaters or even in music videos, you will always find a relation to the famous novel.

It's a good thing Disney was able to lighten up the story of these 2 star-crossed lovers who was doomed by using Gnomes! This was a hilarious idea! The gnomes are so cute and I wanted to buy all of them and put it my garden!

All in all, the start of the story was nice. The stand of each family was clearly showed. I particularly loved the part when Gnomeo and Juliet met. I was so funny! I loved the song too! "Hello, Hello" by Elton John really matched the scenes. I also loved the idea of the "click" sound every time the gnomes touch each other. Reminds the audience that they are made of porcelain.

Anyway, there were hints here and there based from the novel. "Parting is such a sweet sorrow" was mentioned by Nanette, the frog companion of Juliet. Even Shakespeare appeared in the movie as the statue that Gnomeo was talking too in the college grounds.

I loved the movie but i didn't like the ending for the humans. They didn't even explain what happened when the two rival humans saw the wrecked backyard. Did they reconcile as well?

83rd Oscars Best Picture Nominee: Black Swan

Starting of with my first review blog about the 83rd Oscar Awards nominees for Best Picture is the film Black Swan.

I have had only a little feedback from friends about how this movie is about. A story about a ballerina with hopes of being the star in a feature performance of Swan Lake is not that appealing to me. So, I delayed my time in watching this film. I waited to get a DVD copy of the movie instead of watching it in theaters.

My first impression of it was it was thrillingly nice. Natalie Portman really rose above everybody else in her performance as Nina Sayers. She was very convincing and she really nailed the part. Well, she really should excel because training for 6 months for a role like that is not that easy. I particularly liked the part when she started to have hallucinations. She played the role of a distraught, pressured and confused ballerina amazingly. I will not be surprised if she wins Best Actress because her performance was excellent.

Other cast members like Mila Kunis as the loose and totally opposite ballerina that Nina thinks is sabotaging her performance to get the main role, Winona Ryder as the antagonizing ex-Swan Queen, Vincent Casell as the perfectionist instructor and Barbara Hershey as the overbearing and over protective mother made the movie more absorbing. They played their role very well and I really believed that all of them suit their roles perfectly.

The musical scoring, the setting, the overall appearance of the film added to it's goal of being a psychological thriller of the lead role's struggle on being perfect. I wasn't that happy on the ending. Well, I'm not a fan of bad endings that's why I felt bad when she died. I think I even mentioned to Doms that I was a bit teary eyed.

My overall rating of this movie is 8/10. Kudos to people who are behind this movie. But I really must say that Incpetion is still my bet for winning Best Picture.
